Herbed Green Beans

l lb fresh green beans {snapped}
2 tsp olive oil
3 large thinly sliced shallots
1/2 tsp sugar 
1/2 tsp salt 
1/4 tsp pepper
3 tablespoons grated lemon zest { I used the finest grater I can find..the one that is long like a ruler that Martha Stewart uses to grate nutmeg, etc }
1/2 sliced fresh basil leaves.   
Bring 1/2 inch of water to boil in 10 inches covered non stick skillet. 
Add green beans: simmer, cover over medium low heat until tender..crisp, about 10 minutes. 
Heat oil in skillet over medium heat. 
Add shallots and sugar [I add mushrooms too} :  cook until softened and golden about 2 minutes. 
Add salt, pepper and green beans.  
Cook, stirring until heated thru.. about 2 minutes.  
Remove skillet from heat and stir in lemon zest and sliced basil' 
And serve immediately! 
This one is utterly delicious!
